Signalling should be done for at least 3 seconds. When you turn left, check your mirrors first, then signal left. If you are in a long vehicle (e.g. a truck or a car towing a trailer), you might have to move out right to first to make the turn. Before you turn left, check your left mirror and in your left blind spot just in case a cyclist is riding on your nearside.
If you have a load projecting towards the front of your vehicle be aware of its swept path as it might be wider than your turning circle.
When you make the turn keep to the left side of the road you are entering.

If there are pedestrians already crossing the road you are turning into you must give way to them, whether you are turning left or right.
